AMD’s Ryzen AI MAX+ PRO 495 Powers GMKtec’s EVO-X5 PRO To Run 300B+ Models Locally On 192 GB of Unified Memory

GMKtec is pushing the boundaries of compact computing with the launch of its new flagship mini workstation, the EVO-X5 PRO. At the heart of this powerhouse is AMD’s top tier Ryzen AI MAX+ PRO 495 chip, known internally as Gorgon Halo. This silicon beast brings 16 cores and 32 threads based on the latest Zen 5 architecture to a small form factor, hitting clock speeds up to 5.2 GHz. By combining a high performance Radeon graphics unit with an XDNA 2 NPU, the system delivers a total of 131 TOPS of AI compute performance, positioning it as a serious tool for developers and data scientists who need heavy lifting without a full tower setup.

What truly sets the EVO-X5 PRO apart from previous iterations like the EVO-X2 and X3 is its massive leap in memory capacity. The machine arrives with a staggering 192 GB of unified memory running at high speeds, allowing users to allocate up to 160 GB specifically to the GPU. This architectural choice enables the device to run massive AI models exceeding 300 billion parameters locally, removing the reliance on cloud services for complex workloads. GMKtec claims this efficiency translates into faster CPU orchestration and significantly lower costs per completed workflow when compared to industrial alternatives like Nvidia’s DGX Spark.

Beyond raw specs, the workstation is built for endurance and connectivity. It features a premium all metal CNC chassis cooled by a sophisticated vapor chamber and a triple fan system to manage heat during intensive tasks. Connectivity options are equally impressive, boasting multiple USB4 ports that support external GPUs and allow several units to be linked together in clusters for even more power. Storage isn’t an afterthought either, with triple M.2 slots capable of housing up to 24 TB of fast PCIe Gen4 storage.

Rounding out the package are enterprise grade features including AMD Dash remote management and a dedicated security chip for enhanced protection. While GMKtec has not yet revealed official pricing, they have confirmed that the EVO-X5 PRO will hit the market next month in October. Along with the hardware, users will gain access to the proprietary GMKtec Claw AI agent solution, further integrating artificial intelligence directly into the user experience from day one.
