Romanian prosecutors indict Andrew Tate on trafficking minors and money laundering

Romanian authorities have officially indicted social media personality Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan on serious charges involving the trafficking of minors, sex with a minor, and money laundering. According to reports from DIICOT, Romania’s anti-organized crime agency, the brothers allegedly operated a scheme designed to coerce victims into producing pornographic content for an online webcam business. Prosecutors claim that one victim was lured under the guise of a romantic relationship before being forced into exploitation, generating over 1.2 million dollars in revenue.

The detailed indictment suggests a long history of abuse dating back to 2012, alleging that the brothers recruited a fifteen year old girl from their hometown of Luton in England. While Andrew is accused of direct recruitment and later engaging in sexual acts with another minor around 2020, Tristan is charged with complicity. Investigators believe Tristan knowingly deceived the primary victim regarding his brother’s true intentions to help facilitate her exploitation throughout several years across different borders.

Beyond the trafficking charges, prosecutors allege that the Tates engaged in sophisticated money laundering efforts between late 2023 and mid 2024. This involved using illicit funds gained from human trafficking to purchase four high end luxury cars valued at approximately 825,000 euros. Authorities have since requested that these vehicles be confiscated as part of the legal proceedings. There are also claims that the brothers attempted to intimidate or pay off witnesses to prevent them from providing truthful testimony during the investigation.

Andrew Tate has consistently denied all accusations, often claiming that he is the target of a vast political conspiracy intended to silence him due to his controversial views on masculinity and gender roles. The legal situation remains complex as both men are currently dealing with extradition requests from the United Kingdom for similar sex crimes allegations while simultaneously navigating this renewed prosecution in Romania following previous procedural delays in court.
