New Android Drop adds remembered items in Find Hub, makes anti-nausea dots official

Google is shaking things up with its latest September Android Drop, moving beyond the usual wave of AI chatbots to deliver practical tools for everyday users. While previous updates were often criticized for focusing too heavily on Gemini’s summary functions, this release blends artificial intelligence with tangible utility. Users will notice their messaging threads becoming more visually appealing and functional, while the Motion Assist dots that teased early adopters last week are now officially rolling out across the ecosystem.

One of the most helpful additions arrives via the Find Hub, turning it into a digital memory bank for those who constantly misplace their belongings. For users running Android 16 or higher, Gemini can now log the locations of items that lack physical tracking tags. By simply telling the assistant where an object was placed or attaching a quick photo, users create a searchable record they can reference later through Find Hub or by asking Gemini directly when they realize they have lost their keys or passport again.

The update also places a strong emphasis on inclusivity through a new feature called Guided Vision within Gemini Live. Designed primarily as an accessibility tool, Guided Vision uses the device camera to interpret surroundings in real time, helping users locate objects in their frame or read difficult text in low light. It can even provide spatial feedback, such as calculating how far a user’s hand is from an object they are searching for. In a move toward broad compatibility, Google is making this specific tool available to nearly everyone, supporting devices as old as Android 9 Pie.
