Meta is preparing to shake up the wearable tech market this holiday season with the release of the Muse Charm, a handheld AI companion that does more than just answer questions. According to recent reports from Bloomberg following the Meta Connect keynote, these gadgets possess a unique social capability, allowing them to recognize and interact with other nearby Charms. This interconnectedness suggests that Mark Zuckerberg’s vision for AI extends beyond personal assistance into a shared, networked experience between users.
The hardware itself is packed with features designed to keep users untethered from their smartphones. The device boasts a two inch OLED touchscreen and its own dedicated operating system, powered by an internal 5G modem that eliminates the need for constant Wi-Fi connectivity. To ensure security and ease of access, Meta has integrated a fingerprint sensor that allows users to quickly wake the Muse AI agent and begin interacting.
Beyond simple conversation, the Muse Charm acts as a pocket sized multimedia hub. It includes built-in cameras capable of capturing photos and videos, which also serve as eyes for the AI, giving it visual context about the world around it. With integrated speakers and microphones along with USB C charging, the device supports full music and video playback and can be managed via a companion app available on both iOS and Android platforms.
While official pricing remains under wraps, industry sources suggest the Charm will likely retail at a price point similar to a modern smartwatch. While carrier fees for the onboard 5G access have yet to be finalized, Zuckerberg has confirmed that Meta intends to get the devices into consumers hands just in time for December shopping.
