Georgia announces record $35.2B in economic development investments, 25K new jobs

Georgia has once again shattered its own records for economic growth, securing a staggering 35.2 billion dollars in new business investments over the last fiscal year. According to Governor Brian Kemp and the Georgia Department of Economic Development, these projects are expected to create approximately 25,300 new private sector jobs. This surge comes as part of a broader trend of expansion within the state, with officials noting that they supported 436 different project announcements between July 2025 and June 2026.

A significant portion of this success stems from companies that have already established roots in Georgia. About 79 percent of the recorded projects were expansions rather than entirely new arrivals, accounting for nearly 25 billion dollars in investment and over 15,000 new positions. Beyond just creating new roles, state leaders highlighted that their ongoing initiatives helped protect and retain more than 90,000 existing jobs throughout the region.

While Atlanta remains a primary hub for commerce, much of this recent boom is happening far beyond the city limits. State data reveals that roughly 75 percent of all expansions and new company locations took place outside the ten county metro Atlanta area, signaling a widespread distribution of wealth and opportunity across rural and suburban communities. Even so, metro Atlanta still captured a substantial piece of the pie with more than 5.3 billion dollars in incoming investment.

Global interest in Georgia is also hitting new heights, with jobs created by international firms more than doubling since last year. Companies from South Korea, Italy, Belgium, Canada, and France led the charge in foreign job creation, contributing over 7.8 billion dollars to the local economy. Manufacturing remains the dominant driver of this growth, making up two thirds of all newly announced jobs, with particularly strong gains seen in automotive production以及e life sciences and pharmaceuticals.
